Carmelite Sisters
Napa Institute Foundation supports the Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angeles, in their work to create and maintain Santa Teresita, a 12-acre Neighborhood of Care for seniors in need of assisted living or skilled nursing services.
The Carmelite Sisters and staff of Santa Teresita specialize in healthcare for seniors, including assisted living and skilled nursing services, along with comprehensive rehabilitation options and other amenities that together form a Neighborhood of Care.
Santa Teresita began in 1930 when the Carmelite Sisters established a tuberculosis sanatorium for young women and girls. From the original three acres to today’s 12-acre campus, Santa Teresita’s mission is to be “At the Service of the Family for Life.”
The new Santa Teresita campus will include a beautiful chapel where Mass is held daily, senior university and gerontology learning center, intergenerational programs with children from onsite Hayden Child Care, a vibrant town center, and unparalleled care provided by devoted Carmelite Sisters and staff.
All structures on the new campus are designed to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, which will ensure sustainable and green friendly design for the Neighborhood of Care and quality of life at Santa Teresita. Their first cottage, the Good Shepherd Cottage, was recently awarded the LEED Silver Award based on the standards set forth by the U.S. Green Building Council.
